Re-install Stash on an Android phone

***You must create a Stash backup file BEFORE you reinstall Stash.***

 

Stash Password Manager app can be used on its own or with a Stash card for added security. To reinstall with a Stash card, scroll down this page.

 

How to reinstall Stash

    1. Backup your Stash. 
      1. Navigate to the ═ menu in your Stash app. Click on Settings then on Backup your Stash
      2. Create a password for your backup. Make sure to keep this password in a safe place.
      3. Choose a secure location to save your backup file. We recommend saving it on a USB drive for offline security. Your backup file name will use today’s date  (YYYY-MM-DD.stash) so you can find your most recent backup.
    2. Once you have a current backup file, you can install Stash on your new phone (or reset your old phone).
      1. Open Google Play Store
      2. Install Stash Password Manager
      3. Confirm your subscription status
      4. Tap “No, continue without one”. Tap "Continue"
    3. Navigate to the ═ menu in your Stash app. Click on Settings then on Restore your Stash
    4. Type in your backup file encryption password and then choose your backup file.

 

How to reinstall Stash with a Stash card

  1. Backup your Stash. 
    1. Navigate to the ═ menu in your Stash app. Click on Settings then on Backup your Stash
    2. Create a password for your backup. Make sure to keep this password in a safe place.
    3. Tap and HOLD your StashPass to the back of your phone until the backup is complete. Do not release the button until the screen shows your file has been created.
    4. Choose a secure location to save your backup file. We recommend saving it on a USB drive for offline security. Your backup file name will use today’s date  (YYYY-MM-DD.stash) so you can find your most recent backup.
  2. Once you have a current backup file, you can set up your new phone (or reset your old phone).
    1. Open the Google Play Store app. 
    2. Install Stash Password Manager
    3. Confirm your subscription status
    4. Tap “Yes, let’s set it up.” to pair your StashPass card to your phone. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  3. Navigate to the ═ menu in your Stash app. Click on Settings then on Restore your Stash.
  4. Type in your backup file encryption password and then choose your backup file.
  5. Tap and HOLD your Stash card to the back of your phone until the backup file has been restored to your Stash card.
